The industry dialogue forum themed "New Power, New Equipment, New Opportunities" successfully concluded on June 6 at the Qingshuihe Campus of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in Chengdu. Shandong Taikai DC Technology Co., Ltd. (Taikai DC) showcased its core data center DC power supply solution at the event. The company joined over 100 industry experts from China Southern Power Grid, universities and data center operators to discuss the future of power supply in the computing era, with its innovative technological achievements winning wide industry recognition.

Pain Points of Traditional Power Distribution Systems
Conventional power distribution systems adopt the classic combination of power-frequency transformers, UPS units and distribution cabinets. The power undergoes 4 to 5 conversion processes from 10kV municipal power supply to server terminals, causing a power loss of over 10%. Besides, the bulky equipment occupies nearly half of a data center’s white space, resulting in low space utilization. Furthermore, the system cannot directly integrate green power such as photovoltaic and wind power, leading to severe energy waste and failing to meet dual-carbon emission reduction targets.

Revolutionary Breakthrough of Taikai’s SST Solution
Taikai DC replaces the traditional multi-device combination with a single silicon carbide solid-state transformer (SST), cutting down intermediate power conversion links significantly. The full-link power supply efficiency reaches 93.5%, a 5-percentage-point improvement over conventional solutions.
For a 10MW data center, the solution saves 4.38 million kWh of electricity annually, equivalent to reducing 538 tons of standard coal consumption. It reduces equipment footprint by 63% and cuts copper bar usage by half, enabling data centers to deploy nearly one-third more servers. In addition, the solution supports direct connection of photovoltaic power and energy storage systems, and effectively stabilizes 30%-70% load fluctuations of AI computing power, realizing efficient computing-power and power grid coordination.
